What CrossFit Here Actually Is in Derry,
September 11, 2026 — Breathe CrossFIt
If you’ve driven past us in Derry and wondered what actually happens inside, here’s the honest version. No hype, no montage. Just what an hour looks like, who it works for, and what it isn’t.
What a class actually looks like
Our CrossFit classes run 60 minutes and they’re coach-led from start to finish. Group sizes land between 5 and 15 people, which is small enough that a coach knows your name, knows what you were working on last week, and can get to you when something doesn’t look right.
The work itself is high intensity, built around strength and conditioning. But the order of operations matters more than the intensity: we get you moving well and getting the technique right before we ask you to move fast or heavy. That’s not a beginner-only policy — that’s how every class runs, for everyone. Weights, reps and ranges get adjusted to the person standing in front of us. Two people in the same class can do the same workout on completely different terms and both get exactly what they needed.
Outside the hour, we check in with members regularly to see how progress is going and adjust things when they need adjusting. Wins get shared every week in our members-only Facebook group. September is when the mornings in Derry start getting dark and the motivation gets thin — that’s precisely when a coach who notices you’ve gone quiet earns their keep.
Who it’s for
CrossFit here is for anyone who wants coaching rather than a room full of machines and a guess. If you like being told what to do for an hour, having someone correct your setup before it becomes a habit, and training alongside a handful of people rather than by yourself, this fits.
We run Monday to Friday, 05:00 to 19:00, so it fits before a shift, at lunch, or on the way home. If you’ve trained before, we’ll build on it. If you haven’t, we start at the start — that’s a normal thing here, not a special case.
The myth worth killing
The myth is that you need to get in shape before you come in. That you have to be fit enough, strong enough, or young enough first. It’s backwards. The whole reason our classes are coach-led and capped at a small group is so that the workout meets you where you are today. Nobody arrives ready. You arrive, and we scale the session to you.
The second half of that myth is that intensity means recklessness. Intensity is relative to you, and it comes after the movement looks right. That order doesn’t change.
How it connects to everything else
CrossFit is the backbone, but it isn’t the only door. Personal Training is built entirely around your goals if you want one-on-one attention or something specific. Our Nutrition program helps you build healthy habits, improve energy and make better food choices without the overwhelm — because training hard and eating like an afterthought is a slow way to get nowhere.
They stack well. Most people start with classes and add from there.
The first step is a No Sweat Intro — a sit-down conversation about what you want and how we’d get you there, including the options on pricing. More about how we work on our about page.
