What CrossFit at Breathe Actually Is
September 13, 2026 — Breathe CrossFIt
September in Derry is when people start looking for something steadier than a summer schedule. So let’s be plain about what our CrossFit program is, who it works for, and who it doesn’t.
What a class actually looks like
One hour. A coach in the room the whole time. Somewhere between 5 and 15 people on the floor with you. The work is high intensity and built around strength and conditioning — that’s the program, week in and week out.
The part that matters most is the coaching. We’re not handing you a workout and walking away. A coach is watching how you move, telling you when to add and when to hold back, and adjusting the day’s work so it fits the body you brought in that morning. Classes run Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., so an hour fits before work, over lunch, or on the way home.
And it doesn’t stop at the door. We check in with members regularly to make sure they’re happy with their progress, adjust the plan when it needs adjusting, and share wins every week in our members-only Facebook group.
Who it’s for
We’re picky about this, and we say so on our about page. Most gyms will tell you they help everyone. We don’t say that — we coach people who want to be coached, who care more about moving well than moving fast and heavy, and who pull back when a coach says to.
If that’s you, the door is open regardless of where you’re starting. One member wrote in a Google review: “Coaches are amazing. Safe and welcoming environment for all skills levels. Personally, I’ve trained for general health, basic combat training and then pregnancy. Haven’t made it back since having my baby but when I do, baby’s are more than welcome! There is truly something for everyone to do at whatever stage of life you’re in!”
The myth worth killing
The myth is that you need to already be fit — or already know CrossFit — to walk in. Our reviews keep putting that one down. One member wrote: “Trying a new gym—especially something like CrossFit—can be really intimidating, but at Breathe from day one, the atmosphere is welcoming and genuinely beginner-friendly, which makes it so much easier to get started without feeling overwhelmed. For newbies they work with you one on one to start to give you a chance to get comfortable, understand the structure, and build confidence before jumping into group classes.”
Another put it this way: “I’ve always struggled in the gym with not knowing what to do and it’s great to have someone like Toni and a gym like Breathe where it’s okay to not know and there’s no awkwardness asking for help.” That’s 142 Google reviews at a 5.0, and the theme repeats.
How it connects to everything else
Group CrossFit is the backbone. Personal Training exists for your goals specifically — one coach, your plan. Nutrition is there to help you make better food choices without the overwhelm, build habits, and get your energy up so the hour in the gym actually pays off.
