What CrossFit at Breathe Looks Like
September 12, 2026 — Breathe CrossFIt
September in Derry is when people start thinking about the indoor months again. So let’s talk plainly about what our CrossFit classes actually are, and who they’re actually for.
What a class actually looks like
One hour. A coach in the room the whole time. Somewhere between 5 and 15 people on the floor with you in our 8,000 square foot open-concept gym.
It’s a high-intensity session built around strength and conditioning — you’ll lift, you’ll breathe hard, and you’ll be done in 60 minutes. The coach leads it start to finish: explaining the work, setting the weights and movements to match what you can do today, and watching you move. That last part matters more than anything else. Nobody gets handed a workout and left to figure it out.
We run classes Monday through Friday, 5:00am to 7:00pm, so the hour usually fits before work, at lunch, or on the way home.
If you’re brand new, you don’t start in a group class at all. As one member wrote in a Google review: “For newbies they work with you one on one to start to give you a chance to get comfortable, understand the structure, and build confidence before jumping into group classes.”
Who it’s for
People who want coaching, not a keycard. People who do better with a set time, a group, and someone who notices when they’re absent.
We have members training for general health, members training around pregnancy and postpartum, and members who joined having never touched a barbell. One wrote: “I had never tried CrossFit before, but I had friends who did it & loved it… As a busy mom of two, it has become such an important and rewarding outlet for me.” Another put it this way: “Safe and welcoming environment for all skills levels… There is truly something for everyone to do at whatever stage of life you’re in!”
That’s the honest test. If you want to get stronger and fitter with a coach watching, it’s for you.
The myth worth killing
The myth is that you need to be fit before you can start — that CrossFit is a room full of people who are already good at it, and you’d be the one holding everyone up.
Our reviews say otherwise, repeatedly. “Trying a new gym—especially something like CrossFit—can be really intimidating, but at Breathe from day one, the atmosphere is welcoming and genuinely beginner-friendly, which makes it so much easier to get started without feeling overwhelmed.” And from a member of over two years: “The community is hands down the best part. No one acts like they’re better than anyone els…”
142 Google reviews, 5 stars. That’s not an accident of programming. It’s the room.
How it fits with everything else
Group class is the backbone. Personal training sits alongside it when you want one-on-one time — a specific goal, a movement to rebuild, or a schedule that won’t hold still. Nutrition coaching handles the other half of the equation: better food choices without the overwhelm, built into habits you’ll keep.
Most people use some mix. We check in regularly and adjust the plan when it needs adjusting.
